What a year! We are hopeful that this update brings some excitement and joy to the community as we reflect on 2025 and look forward to 2026.
Reflections on 2025
Lumara
One of our biggest achievements this year has been launching Lumara. With a hugely successful PTR (A massive thank you to those who helped test!) - we were able to launch Lumara in live Syrnia with minimal bugs. Overall we were very pleased with how Lumara has been received!
New Homepage
Another massive step in bringing Syrnia closer to modernisation was the overhaul of the homepages. This has brought a much nicer feel to them!
Misc
Looking forward into 2026
Let’s take a look at some of the projects coming up for release in 2026!
Pirate Overhau…Player Factions!
Let’s get the big one up front shall we? We’ve spoken in numerous roadmap updates about how pirates phase 1 is a massive overhaul of the underlying code, but we weren’t ready to share any details. Today we are!
Every time the development team spoke about pirates, and what really is a pirate we kept coming back to one conclusion - it’s a playable faction in game. When the decision was made to begin rewriting pirates code (Due to it being unmaintainable for future updates) - we agreed to bite the bullet, and rewrite the core concepts in a way that we can use to bring in other player factions in the future. We feel that this framework will give the creative freedom for future updates, and believe this is a great step forward in Syrnia’s journey!
We will be pushing this overhaul to the PTR in Q1 2026, when this has happened - we will be inviting everyone (pirates and non pirates) to help test it out on the PTR, and make sure everything is working as it should!
We would like to stress 3 key points:
Progress: 95%
Release Date: Q1 2026
New Boss Coming - Yurlugnur
We’d like to introduce Yurlungur, the first level 3 boss! This boss will provide a challenge to all those that face him - but to those who prevail, they shall be rewarded with a glimmer in the vein of victory!
Progress: 95%
Release Date: Q1 2026
Brewing
We’ve made progress on bringing brewing to Syrnia this year. The original code for brewing was written against the code-base of Syrnia pre-April 2024 core rewrite. This has meant significant effort was required to bring brewing in line with the new code base. We are now most of the way through this process. We’ve also made great strides in finding a core gameplay loop that we believe will be fun for players.
Unfortunately we are not quite ready to share a release date for brewing yet.
Progress: TBA
Release Date: TBA
API Framework
I would briefly like to touch on this topic, as it has been quite a hot topic lately. We have begun to re-do the old API code, into an actual framework to better support third party sites. When we have finished the core endpoints, we will be sharing more details with the community!
Progress: 10%
Release Date: 2026
Other Upcoming Projects
Our goal for 2025 has been to bring new content at the top end, to give players new goals to strive for. Lumara’s launch was a great step forward for that goal!
We would like to add that we are dedicated to the long term strategy of providing improvements to Syrnia. This includes a myriad of other unannounced topics that aren’t listed above. Whilst we don’t touch on them directly we would like to mention that work is still on-going for these other projects.
Whilst we don’t always hit the mark, or are slower to provide content/fixes than we want. We hope this provides an outlook on where we are, and where we want to be!
Thanks,
The Syrnia Dev Team

We would like to stress 3 key points:
- Firstly, pirate phase 1 WILL be boring. If we’ve done our job correctly there will be no noticeable difference to the players.
- Secondly, pirate overhaul phase 2 IS still planned. Announcing player factions does not change that. We have already begun talks on how to begin phase 2.
- Lastly, there are no immediate plans to add another player faction due to the other on-going projects that have been in roadmaps. Once the roadmap is cleared, we will take a look at using this new framework. Please be patient whilst we finish other existing work!

- The next island will be coming soon, where we traverse snowy mountains!
