Under the hood
We'd like to firstly give some context to a lot of the database optimisations that have been going on lately. One of the highlights is the loggedin splash page (as you log in, you are greeted with the latest news, etc) - the page load time has been reduced from ~2s to ~0.2s.
Whilst all of these changes are minor on their own, we have just hit an incredible milestone, we have now had 1 month with 0 slow running database queries!
Over the past few months, there's been some comments from world chat we'd like to address.
Firstly, we recently added a combat simulation tool, which has greatly sped up our ability to test new combat spots, and make changes on the fly. This was used in the making of Lumara, and hopefully it shows!
Secondly, we have very recently added a boss fight simulation tool, which should apply the same benefits to future bosses!
Lumara
First of all we want to thank all of the testers who jumped on PTR. We were able to squash 13 bugs, and made multiple tweaks to content based on players feedback. We really appreciate the help from the community in making the launch of new content smooth!
Overall testing has been really positive, nothing major came up and it's in a great place. With Lumara now live exploration of Lumara has begun, and we hope you enjoy the new content.
Post Lumara
We would like to make a few small notes about post-lumara launch.
Firstly, we aim to release more content around the Ruins on Lumara at a later date. Our goal with this is to stagger content, to keep player retention higher over time.
Secondly, we acknowledge the release of Lumara took longer than expected - this is because we took the time to balance Lumaras content with new unreleased future content too. Our goal here is to be able to provide more content long term, rather than having periods of no content at all.
Pirates
With Lumara’s development wrapping up, primary focus for one developer will be on progressing pirates phase 1! This should provide the long term platform for pirates that we have put in place for other areas of the game.
Brewing
Similar to pirates, we would like to just mention that work is starting up again on bringing brewing into the game.
Thanks,
The Syrnia Dev Team
