Im curious to see what other syrnians do in the real world

I have just graduated Victoria university in New Zealand with a BA in english Lit, and Film im also most of the way through a BBmedSC (biomedical science) but am leaving uni now to got to the countrys top film school.

I work every now and then acting in things like Lotr as some of you know and i also do film editing work so what do you all do.

16/M In highschool. Not getting good grades so I won't be playing very much for a while. I'm not even suposed to be on now. I'm hoping to go into engineering as a career. I mainly play video games, and hang out with friends. I sometimes paintball.

so where my name came form:last year in hockey before i took up goaltending well i was a goallie and player i would switch every other game, i got 4 roughing in 1 game and on the way home my mom called me a goon and that night i got bored so i went looking for internet games and i found 1(not syrnia) but i couldnt think of a name so i remembered that my mom called me a goon so i use that name on all games i play

I'm a part time student and a full-time writer. I was born and grew up in Utah and currently live in Arizona (pretty close to Blessit.) I was born in year ???? on July 2nd. When I first moved to Arizona, I grew up near the Mexican border and had to learn spanish in my Pre-Teen years. When was in the 8th grade, I had to learn most of the english language over again (major pain)

I love to write, but due to re-learning the english language, my writing sometimes is slightly jumlped.

I've finished degrees in Construction, Design Drafting and Theatre. Currently working on a Master's Degree in Scenic Design outside of Chicago. I work in the shop building sets and props for plays, musicals and operas. In my 2 free hours a week I play Mazeball or Dodgeball.

i love mountain biking specially on thrill trails however just stop for a moment on biking as i focused on playing this game during weekends...

i live in ardire alberta canada. Graduated highschool last june. Went to Japan and now focusing on spending a year in australia.

Im mainly an artist and hope to attend ACAD (alberta collage of art and design) been told i could easily get in.

Right now i work in a lumber mill and my hours change from days to evenings so im on at different times sometimes.

I love to read, write, draw, hang with friends, occasionly drink and love to travel. i play lots of sports but just for fun.

I have my own dog (3 total in family) his name is Diesel, and he is a big wuss but very vute and obediant (trained him myslef)

I like to be open now since before i closed myself off to the world. Im very freindly so ask me anything, and i love to discuss a wide variety of topics (even boilogy which i slept thro in highschool and got the highest test marks)

Im 17, male, live in Holland.
It's my last year at college ('vwo').
And I gotta decide what university&education to do next year.
I'll probably do something with economics or computers at amsterdam.

I spend alot time to Syrnia and work(building websites).

People shouldnt be feeling old after reading this post: There are lots of 'older' people playing Syrnia, they are actually usually the best too since they play at work.

I'm currently a student at UND with Hexon. I'm working on a degree in commmercial aviation to become a pilot.

Aside from syrnia, I snowboard when I can dispite living near no significant elevation variations. I am currently in a band, for which I play bass guitar and play shows around the area. Play frisbee golf, even in the snow.

Other than these, I persue some smaller hobbies such as my 2 freshwater aquariums, growing plants (not weed, you delinquents), playing Magic cards, driving and working on my three 1983 Oldsmobile Toronados, tying knots on accordions, and making out with your mom.

My goal in life is to go to Mars, preferably with the intent of Colonization.

I'm old and crusty at 29 years old. I turn 30 in 1 month. I'm from Ontario, Canada. I'm a Master (Capt) in the Merchant Marine. I'm in between contracts right now so I have lots of time on my hands.

Live in Memphis, TN, but I'm from WV. I went to school in Knoxville, TN. Then spent some time in the Philippines before moving here.

I graduated from the Univ. of Tenn. with a BS in Communications. I started out in architecture, but switched and majored in advertising and minored in business, and spent as much time doing graphic art and freelance writing as I could.
I then went on to follow a higher calling. I got a Masters of Divinity from Mid-America Seminary, and now work with tweens and teens for a living. Well, and, of course, with their parents, trying to help them figure things out about today's teens.

I'm into music and drama. I write screenplays and act. I sing with some different peeps here in Memphis, I've toured with a band, and I play some bass guitar and lots of hand percussion.

I'm recently getting back into the game, after a very long break, cause by me starting work in June!

Where my nick name came from.. Well at last years freshers fair at Uni "The Sun" newspaper or "The Mirror" or some newspaper where giving away free stuff. 30/M. I currently work in a Quality Assurance department of a biotech company, ensuring that the company's laboratories and personnel are following FDA and ISO guidelines.

From a personal standpoint, I'm married almost 2 yrs, bought a house a few months back (learning about the evils of real estate agents along the way), and enjoy playing board / computer games (especially strategy) in my spare time. At the moment we run a community Pub on merseyside. In the past I have had various careers-rock n'roll singer in England and USA (in the 60's), I served in the American Army in Viet Nam, I have managed Factories and Hospitals. I lived in California (13 years),Detroit (13 years), Chicago a couple of years. I am looking to move to continental Europe in the future. Sorry bout the rambling but I am old !!! lol

Dodging bullets and knife stabbings is the jist of whats going on in my city. Im currently out of college due to lack of funds. I am another of the oldersters I guess. I am 53, male, physician. I am terminally educated (medical joke... I am educated almost to death ) I have three advanced degrees, two at the doctoral level. I live in Southern Tennessee. I like this game because it allows for building and exploring without having to face combat all the time. Almost every other game I have tried requires combat just to survive.

I would improve this game by shortening the wait time (number of seconds between actions. The game moves quite slowly.) I would suggest developing the construction skillset to include more items. Of course more islands with more real estate to explore. The entry to the career path of magic is currently a severe bottleneck due to the scarcity of amber. I would suggest altering the farming skillset to allow for the production of seed, as this is currently a limiting factor in this career.

Hi, I know some of the more passionate geeks that play this game dislike me for trying to be intresting and having a lightharted look at syrnia.

Well who is behind stainmaster? I went to school and got 9 GCSE's 3 A-levels I went to University for 2 years and studied Engineering Managment. I had several part time jobs through my time as a student. I have always been good at selling things to people. I worked as a sales rep for a printers and had accounts worth 2 million, working 2 days a week this was quite an achievment.

Through this job I done some distribution af adult material and got to know alot of people in the Industry and have helped create a few films and publications. I have starred in a few films as I had got the appropriate skills for my position in the role in the films.

I did let this get the better of me and spent more time on my career in this industry. So dropped out of uni because the money I was making was excellent, more than the engineer ever would.

I met a girl and settled with her and ended up getting a 'real' job as it was causing a few disputes at home. I was a sales consultant for a large european company that deal in home furniture. This job was cool as I spent alot of time away from home. I lived in scotland quite a bit and will not say what i thought of this incase I offend. I do like edinburgh as It is a wonderful city beautiful with lots of culture. I was always down the western coast of england aswell and hate the M6.

I was made redundant from this job so I now run an Import business, I sell scooters and motorbikes, I have 3 websites but don't know much about them I bought them cheap and others look after them.

I am male 24 I am a lord as I bought a lord-ship for a joke a few years ago and am stuck with it, I Have a beautiful Girlfriend now, as I have had a excellent life and have setled down now. My friends accuse me of already having had a mid life crisis bacause I bought alot of sports cars and have sold them now. I have a girl who is 9 this november but unfortunatly don't get to see her much as the laws in the UK are crap and Fathers have no rights.

02/12/08 - Was reading this thread and thought I should update.

Since my post - I have transferred twice at my job. I started out as a shelter monitor, then transferred to the thrift store as a cashier, then just recently I transferred to the main office in Jefferson City to start working as the corps secretary. Lol, not making much more money, but it is a lot less strenuous work. I also had surgery to replace my right knee joint a year ago and will have the left one done on 2/18/08.

This time I am actually getting back into the game, unlike last time work kept me busy. I was writing Commercial PHP Websites that Hooked into proprietary third party's Case Management tools for the legal sector. I was also selling this stuff as well. Did tens of thousands of pounds worth of work - Definitely boosted my self confidence since it was my first real job. (Some might say I act more cocky now because of it, but I just like to play up to that image and most people know I'm joking)

I'm now on my final year. So I'm doing a final year project which has something to do with whole house media pvr systems (www.mythtv.com) and controlling them automatically based on who's in which room etc. using Bluetooth to track people.

I go to table-top roleplay at least twice a week, which is far superior to computer-based roleplay, I heartily recomend all of you to try it at least once. But computer based RP helps fill the void between table-top games.

After reading this thread I have decided "I am about as old as dirt"! But feel in my heart to be young, always smiling and laughing.

I am a 53 year old grandmother, daughter is 34, son is 33 & have 4 grandsons 16,14,12,10, and my "adopted grandkids" most them play here or other places I have found that are monitered to be kid safe. Raised kids as a single Mom so have had alot of different jobs.

Am presently married. Hubby got severely burned so I am taking care of him and have alot of time on my hands.

As for my real life i used to do online marketing but recently i've become lazy and have just been sitting idle on the money i have saved. In the RL I love to invent different answers to the questions like "What do you do in the real world?"

Here are some of my inventions:

1. I'm 13 y.o. (almost 14) hyper-developed wonderchild from a very special Russian paramilitary school for incredibly smart kids. My major subject, in simple words, is how to lie convincingly. I am also studying 5 foreign languages.

2. I'm 24 y.o. I study in the Moscow university for Psychiatrist, am a year away from graduating as M.D. in Applied Psychology. I am already acting as the associate doctor. I learned English from my two years trip to the USA for study purposes.

3. I'm 26 y.o. I work as a senior sales manager for a very large international company which deals in HD-TV, earn tons of money and very frequently go to the US and most Western European countries. I am neurotic, love dogs and, generally, an unhappy person.

One of these is like very close to RL. Special prize to Syrnian, who guesses first (and explains his reasons) which exactly.

Wow, it was kind of cool to go read about everyone.

I'm 34 (will be 35 this summer), the single mother of one daughter, aged 3 (going on 19).

I teach math and science at an alternative high school - most of my students are either at-risk of dropping out, are "recovering" dropouts, and/or have been adjudicated. It's a challenge, but lots of fun.

I will complete my master's degree in Educational Administration in December of this year, and I'm looking forward to my salary doubling. Being a single mom on a teacher's salary is rough, but the upside is that I'm debt free. YAY ME!

I got hooked on this game courtesy of my fellow clannies whom I have known for years.

im 26, and im working in ulm, south-germany in the town library as a library assistant for the childrens library and also renting books in what we called the service-center, where we also made the technical book work. i had done my training 3 years in boeblingen in the library with the school in Calw, work one year in a very small library in marbach, then i found my new work last year in ulm. i like to work there (well mostly, sometimes it depends on our users but my colleaques are really good ones and most time the users are nice

In my freetime i like to watch movies and serials (also cinema), play computer games (internet or normal roleplaying, browser and flash). I played anarchy online for 4 years and also other moorpg. i love reading, mostly fantasy, but also historical and biographic novels and sf a bit. im a trekkie, so i also like to read these kindo books. ive started to read them in english too, cause the translation is minimal or not available. (its not easy cause of all those "special" words like the one i read now: >TerokNor pt1< all those bajoran and cardassian words + special startrek words XD)

i like cycle and also archery, but the traditonal one with longbows. I like to visit mideval markets and show-fights, and i have started with live-roleplaying (LARP). My first char will be a wood-elf archer. Also started with pen&paper since a while (D&D,TbE,..) and i like to play board games.
I like rock music and some others (crazy mix from eartha kitt over roxette to joan baez and oldies form 50 up), but mostly black metall, death metall, pagan, medival, symphonic metall ...in us its emo i heard, in germany we say Gothic or Goth. I like to visit festivals, this year summberbreeze will be fun with korpiklaani, ensiferum, ASP, shadow reichenstein, schelmish,... XDD

I am a 36 year old mother of two smart and beautiful daughters (17&15). I was divorced and alone for 14 years until very recently, when I got back in contact with my very first high school sweetheart. (He's the one who got me hooked on Syrnia the last few days.) I am one month away from receiving my BA in Psych/Soc from Washington State University. It has been a long two years! I love working with children and the elderly. I have spent most of my adult life either running my own daycare or working as a speech pathology assistant in public schools and/or nursing/assisted living facilities. I love to paint, draw, sew, and decorate other peoples houses. I use to read for fun, now I read text books. My favorite place to be is the Oregon Coast, where I can have both evergreen trees and stare at~as well as smell, the ocean for hours at a time! AND~in the last few days, I guess, I have decided I want to be a pirate,too! Hmmmm. Considering the only gaming experience I have ever had was SEGA's Sonic the Hedgehog in 1991, and Pac-Man when I was 13, I hope I am not brutally laughed out of here in complete and utter shame~never to return. . . cause I'm having alot of fun.

Wow, I've really enjoyed this post! Ok, well...I just turned 30 and I'm so relieved to see so many other people here over the age of 12 (no offence, youngens). I was beginning to feel crusty. So, I'm 30/f. I grew up in Knoxville, TN, then spent about 20 years living in Southern California where I got my degree in Biological Anthropology and then worked as a Systems Administrator for an ISP for a few years. im in highschool atm in a program called AFJROTC (air force jr. recruiting officers traing corps) as of right now im a SSgt. athletics NCO. yesh enlisted anyways i do pla on going into the airforce as a pj or you may know them as pararescue men they do combat search and rescue.

Because even seals , Green Berets and Recon Marines need to call 911

they are also one of the only or the only certified medics that can weild a wepon and go into combat if needed to.

My favorite types of discussions involve History, partial politics(Because they cause drama, I tend to try and avoid them anymore.) Of course, we cannot forgot good ol' fashioned science. Who doesn't love science? ;)

I've been a member of Syrnia now for 5 years, and in these last 5 years Syrnians good and annoying alike have made ever lasting impressions.
I can say that for any social-outcast from Modern-Society, SyrNerdia is your home. We welcome warm smiles and friendly faces - haha.

I can say without a doubt many syrnians have found me annoying, tempting, and/or trying, and I must say I thank those that have had patience through my coming-of-age ;)

As for what I do in real life; I recently have found a new job, but it may only be temporary. I will be doing a bit of cross-country traveling for a company that manufactures, constructs, and installs counter tops, tile-laid shelving, booths, etc... for Colleges, Restaurants(High and Low rated, such as walk-ins, reserved, or drive-threws)

With the money I will be saving up with that, will be going towards a fund for me to go to Australia, and perhaps attend college in one of their many Universities.

Bit of rambling, suppose I will cut it - not short, but here.

I've always been a drifter that would gladly not leave my house for weeks on end. It is interesting to see the posts from 2005. Almost all gone now. To think M2H put this together when he was 17 and it still lives. Pretty impressive.

Next April will mark 9 years in the game for me, hard to believe (was originally "Osuch34". Just enjoy the relaxation of this other little world. That and the very important friends I have made here that have carried over into RL.

I work for Target (large American retailer) in one of their gigantic regional distribution centers. Good company and I get exercise.

My first goal now is to get to Australia and insult zared to his face rather then in forum.

June of 2015 marked 9 years since I first started here. Seems like forever. moc1 got me playing. Here I am a woodcutter but in the real world I am retired. I was a Jill of all trades. Most interesting jobs were: bus driving and later driving the rescue truck for the State Emergency Service. A volunteer rescue organization in most states of Australia.



Now I travel to the UK for the Summer of each year. Have been doing this now since 2012. I go over for the Summer Music Festivals. I've met up with a few Syrnia players too.


Rejoined the SES and am enjoying updating all my skills.

It has been completely humbling reading through these posts, there have been a number of high achievers pass through these forums. It is amusing to think that many of those who were students could now be considered professionals in their field. It'd be intriguing to see updates on where in your life you are now.

Myself, I am a Study Programme Manager for Animal Sciences in a college in the South West (UK), where I manage and lecturer on the FE and HE zoological courses teaching on campus and onsite at a zoo.

I am also completing a Research Masters in Biological Sciences (Ecology and Evolution) where I am exploring evolutionary stable strategies and mechanisms underlying fitness. Sounds fancy, but it means that a lot of my spare time is watching fruit flies have sex..

Aww figured I should go look at mine too and update it. I was 13 in OG post, now 26. So I ended up finishing middle and high school! Went to college got a bachelors in Computer Information Systems... finally learned how to program a bit but forgot most of it in the 3 years since college not doing any programming.

Moved from North Carolina to Oregon just last year. I now work IT at a large corporation and it is a lovely job. I want to move into a more managerial role but that will come with time.

I still spend most of my free time gaming. I still also listen to metal a lot but more rap now as well, even electronic stuff. Hell I listen to most things these days. I have also been collecting insects as pets(usually spiders or ants) and watching them and seeing how even different spiders of the same species all have different personalities which fascinates me since insects are not known for intelligence.

I also design games that I would like to play, those that work in a 2D platform and turn based I build my ideas into RPGmaker using plugins others have made and customizing them to work with my ideas. My goal is to just move all of my ideas into games I code myself and I am working on relearning to program as well as learning how game devs specifically program.
