I was wondering if any1 remembers who was first there in help chat to help them. This is before the guide tags, or mine is anyways.
The person who was the biggest help for me was aquadark. I kept asking tons of questions, and he'd sit there and patiently answer them. I know there were a few other people, but he was the one that i best remember.

edit: acctually i kept chat disabled for the first 3 months So i learned everything by just reading manual/dw-hq...

Seems like it's been forever, mainly just started out on my own, referring to the manual, & DW-HQ.com after someone suggested it to me, ... dont remember who that was but, thanks a bunch... Mainly just concentrated on the material skills, mining & WCing, to start,... then eventually, I jumped in with Kerrigor, & The Dragons of Frost, Where I met up with some real great folks who I pretty much hang out with now, Me, Bogtrotter, Peggy, Chainer, etc... All have travelled pretty much together ever since.

I'm going to expand on this topic a bit. I'm going to include a variety of people who have helped me, and in no particular order:

1. Koolkitty7272 - she is only one that can apply to the topic at hand
2. Abu - the funny man of Syrnia
3. Kenny666 - people can blame him somewhat for me starting fishing in the first place
4. Elzar - Him being around helped propel me to fish so I could keep in front of him
5. M2H: If he had a cap on levels then I wouldn't have kept working on fishing XD

Dolmarion...was my hero when I started and remains my hero today as he is a great clanleader. He has helped many throughout the time he has been playing. Also, I must mention Onenjr he was and continues to always be available with any question I might have. Dolmarion and Onenjr are great teachers, leaders and great friends. I would have to thank Dragon_Fayt and kenny666 who ran the legendary clan Legend which I joined within 24 hours of starting to play Syrnia back in June 2005. Here's the clan webpage made by kenny666 which is still up:

Then I would also thank blessit for all her help in chat. She did this for so many new players in the summer of 2005, and once I had read the entire Manual a couple of times, I also joined in and helped her. I'd say that she and I pretty much ran the "help chat" in July and August 2005, before school started and I couldn't play 24/7 anymore.

Of course, this was way back before www.dw-hq.com existed, the Manual was all we had and everything which was not there was a mystery to be discovered - which was a lot more fun than looking up everything on a webpage or get it explained...

And the information we slowly collected was then written into our clan forum, which was how successful clans had an advantage to other clans - by being able to help their members with better advice.

After reading this topic it also looks like all the new players I helped over the years either quit playing or forgot about it... Oh well.

I am just happy that the Syrnia community is working so well together. It is a pleasuer to help others, I am just sorry that I no longer have time to linger in chat like I did in the beginning.

I was new and had not even THOUGHT about training combat yet and I had just made level 15 woodcut and was so excited to go and chop at lemo woods.
I accidentally clicked on enter the woods instead of woodcut and I was panicking in world chat. They tried to help me but I was a mad clicking woman and I died.

Selena gave me all sorts of things to get restarted and Zeken gave me 1k gold.
1k gold was a LOT of money to me back then!!

If it weren't for them helping me that night, I likely would have quit I was so upset about it.

Well the first time i ever played the game i don't think there was a help chat, it was about 1.5-2 years ago, under the name golden butterfly, and i really can't remember who helped me..I think i got some help from ExRo and -CD-, but i didn't stay long.

Next time was about 6 months after that i think, the name bluestar this time, again i can't remember really, but i know i joined ExRo and -CD- again And they gave me some help.

Then this time around i didn't need any help.

Dont think I have ever posted. First players to help Me include Bonsoy, one of the most helpful players I have came across. Kind and willing to help, be it items or answering questions. Fave player from snake.
Gunsmoke, St0rmz, Moc1 also helped.
Ladyraven helped mostly, by answering other players questions in chat as at that time, no help chat was around.Which then meant I knew the answers to help other players, seeing as have seen my name, by people i didnt even realise i had helped . And the general syrnian community helped by being what it was back then, if it was not as interesting, would not have stuck around.

Look to the person above me as to who helped me first Viper gave me an ogre tool or two back in the day when they were still hard to find. It was a noob's fortune to me and I've been playing for 2+ years and still haven't forgotten it.

In-clan help, I still remember when Markenthol gave me a full ogre set (back when the sets were 10-12k for all combat gear) and I was giddy for days over that one too.

and Dale, he is a well known player, he took me under his wing when i got out of the tutorial, he gave me some free stuff, complimented me all the time, and got me addicted to the game
then sparta offered for myself to join her clan, which dale was also doing! Then a big thing happened and spartaness took me with her! Eventually i realised i was taking too much from sparta and broke off..

Lurchable and the Texans were the first to explain things to me.. they helped a lot including explaining to me that i should gain my first 20 or so levels before joining a clan so I had a better understanding of the game before I made a decision of a clan to join..
They also gave me only what I absolutely needed to start and learning how to support myself convinced me that I should not have to rely on a clan to play.

I don't remember the person who helped me first, but after the first two clans that I joined fell apart, CFH were the ones that helped me find a direction in this game and made me want to really play it for the first time, as opposed to out of habit.

I remember saying in world chat one day that I just wanted to train mining (it was my highest skill and the only one that I cared about at the time), and then I got a whisper from Mr Tiddles, asking me if I would be interested in joining CFH. From that day forward, it's been proven time and time again that CFH is my home.
