Ok so Born has asked me to suggest a few players for a pirate update focus group, this group will suggest, discuss and generally brainstorm the updates suggested by born and those suggested by players.

The aim is to see what is possible and what is actually beneficial to both the pirates and the game as a whole.

I'll pop their names up for you so you can speak directly to anyone in the group with your suggestions I will ask the you please don't pester them for info on what they are discussing as we don't want any spoilers so they won't tell you.

Again these are just players chosen to help and offer different opinion if you would be interested in joining this group feel free to let me know and if we need fresh input I will consider all those interested.

Currently in your pirate team are:

Deedar
Kordon
Yaoming36
Loki

Just to let it be known, a lot of you know that I am afk quite a bit, so if you want to tell me anything, would probably be better to send me a message instead of a whisper as I will see that better. But any ideas or whatever you want to send to me, I will look at and analyze and discuss with the rest of the group the ones that I think have some merit.

All these "focus" group members as far as I am aware are mostly inactive or not "grouped" in any discussions.

So, new public forums focus groups have been created to get general input, and if any Admin wants to pick up focus group members that'd be the spot to check.

All these "focus" group members as far as I am aware are mostly inactive or not "grouped" in any discussions. <-- There are 3 who are NOT inactive(though 1 was for a short amount of time, should if not already be back around) As for the others, I would agree should be replaced by those who are pretty active and of which who do chat(maybe not always, but some of the time)- While I don't know why they are inactive, real life can sometimes be cruddy

So I originally read the idea for a Pirate suit or Pirate items from Benguin and would like to elaborate on my ideas for that.

So my thinking is this: there could be a full pirate suit with boots, gloves, legs, chest, and headgear. Possibility of some new pirate weapons as well. These new items could be used as a means by which to increase the willingness of pirates to donate. I have two possible methods in mind for obtaining these items:

1. The first idea would have these items be a random gift that comes with successful captures that one helped donate to. The message would look like this:

"Arrr matey...
Here is your share of our loot at Nabb mines:
+5563 gold.

For helping the pirates you got -604 fame. You have also been rewarded with a Pirate's Eye Patch!"

These would encoruaged pirates to donate with the idea of possibly gaining an item for their service. I would say it cannot be too common and there would possibly need to be an amount that you are required to donate in order to receive an item so that player do not donate only one item to potentially get an item.

2. The second idea is my more preferred method. In this method, there would be a store on Skull Island that sold this new pirate gear. There is a catch though, in order to buy certain pieces of the set one is required to have a certain amount of negative fame. For example, the Pirate's Eye Patch potentially costs 10k gold but further requires the player to have 20k negative fame. You do not lose the negative fame in the purchase but require it to be allowed the purchase. The requirements could vary for each piece.

Regardless of which method is used, I believe there should be negative fame requirement in addition to a normal defense level requirement to wear these items. After all, we do not want filthy landlubbers wearing our gear. So this Pirate's Eye Patch required say Defense level 30 and 20k negative fame to equip. Furthermore, once dipping below the negative fame threshold, the item becomes unequipped. Thus landlubbers can have access to own the item but cannot wear it.

The benefits of this addition:

New items for Pirates
New incentives to donate and gain negative fame
A new use for negative fame for those who will never be Captain

Thoughts?

First let me say this is a pretty thought out idea and involves a number of aspects.

1:
This part I think would really benefit the "typical" donator by giving them some special reason to donate, other than just the contributing to the cause, since most donators won't realize the high neg fame and gold returns which the power donators would be able to get. I think it would also encourage more excitement about donating in general.

2:
I like a lot about this idea. Having a special shop where pirates can work to obtain special pirate items by being active donators would allow them to showoff their dedication and give them concrete goals for being able to get a certain piece of gear. I like the idea about having a min requirement of neg fame to be able to get a certain piece, plus the gold to purchase it and min levels for being able to equip something. You would still be able to place something in your trophy slot even without being able to equip it.
The only thing I would add to this option would be setting a limit on how many of each piece you could acquire, that way it would make them more special and not commonplace. Maybe someone could come up with a list of possible items and maybe even multiple items for each slot to make it more similar to how weapons/armor are equipped based on level. That way even people with lower neg fame and/or levels would be able to get at least some type of special item all of their own.

I’m happy pirates in general are finally being looked at closer and that there is work in progress. I voiced pretty much all my opinions and short term hopes in the other posts but one thing I would like to see is a fame loss(or gain?) from being inactive for too long or for not sending invasions, like when the mutiny happens.
So like if your inactive (1 week?) you loose x amount of fame.
Or...
“The pirates are becoming disgruntled, you lost x amount of fame among the pirates”

I think that will help a lot to keep a) invasions flowing and B) from pirates being held at bay because someone got “upset”

Not sure if that’s been talked about but didn’t remember seeing it

I want to say these ideas sound good, but cannot be implemented when we still have pirates that dont seem to want to get it, that you do not over donate ever. the donation only gives you neg fame and gold the time you put it in, not every invasion that it is used in. so over filling will not make you captain sooner. Also if you have been captain you should know about this bug, and I agree with the saying that anyone purposely doing it again and again is exploiting the bug to close the sh so no one can get in every time and build their neg fame. 1 time accident, 2 time okay maybe you forgot, 3rd time is a deliberate exploitation of the known bug to cause others to not be able to have fun. should get a punishment the 3rd time of at least until next invasion jailed. the 4th time 1 month jail, the 5th time you cant get a clue and should be banned or removed from pirate in my opinion.
Ragnar [-CR-]
Update that could be added in when SH update happens-
Idea: Current pirate Captains timer for sending freezes for the duration of a Mod Sent invasion (Holiday most important but both would be nice)

Reasoning: Nobody really knows how long a mod sent invasion will last. We guess and hope for longer every year(or atleast I do). If it is frozen then there would be no fear of miss planing or a mutiny in a time your unable to physically send an invasion anyhow.

So, I was looking at the map of skull and thought the left side looked a little bare, why is this? Maybe this is something we could use to our advantage, a player based event similar to Arch. maybe we have to clear our way through bonewood, or there's an old path from skull's nose, or a cave system up at ten cliff. If there's a cave system perhaps a new mining location becomes available, or a higher level forest if we go through bonewood. No matter what this would lead to a new location or several depending on how it goes but I do think the new town in question should be "Eerie ___" cove perhaps because I'm cheesy like that. Perhaps once we discover this location it's an old run-down town, inhabited by some unwelcome guests (large rats come to mind in honor of the rat queen). Perhaps once some of the brush is cleared away we can see a spot of land in the distance, that we would need to prepare a fleet for. All of this is really just something my 4 am brain concocted but I think it was at least worth putting it here
Ragnar [-CR-]
very good idea!

I think it’s safe to assume Piracy 2.0 update and typo fixes are no longer going to happen. I guess we should just be happy to get the progression bar and ignore the outdated content, skill gaps, and simple typos.

We are pirates, did we really ever think the game would give us an update that would bring us up to date?

One of two things will happen first:

I will die of old age; or
