What computer should I get for Black Friday? I might get a laptop and a desktop.
Edit.
Price range under 2k but may go over if it really awesome, larger size the better, use for work, stock trading, gaming, video monitoring.

For a laptop I think the PHN18-71-77JT on Amazon for $1,430 is a really good value. The G814JV-RS75 on the ASUS store is a little more feature full than the Acer laptop but also more expensive ($1,700)

Depending on your gaming needs these are both really nice laptops.

If you want to purchase a desktop you'd get the most value building one. Using pcpartpicker.com is a great way to put together a build and see the cost before buying everything. It includes some tools for compatibility and clearance but they're not always helpful.

Here's an example build around the $1,700 price point https://pcpartpicker.com/list/jQ3vnp

Avoid CyberPower like the plague, they’re cheap for a reason; bad QC, poor quality parts and the worst customer service I’ve ever encountered.

I like the MSI in terms of brand.

I got my laptop for about £1000 I dunno what that would be in dollars however it has been very nice.

I had a few hiccups at the start I do not know if it was manufacturing or shipping or what but I had an issue with overeheating which seems to be a thing for laptops in general.

it was a quick cheap fix at my local tech store and I was good to go.

Keep in mind that laptops have significantly cut down versions of GPUs. Lower power, worse cooling, wildly worse frame rates. You'll find that a 4070 in a desktop has 40~50% better performance than a 4070 found in a laptop.

oh yeah 100% Goosh I was just saying as a brand I do like MSI

building yourself is always the better bang for buck for sure but if you are unsure of components and other elements to rig building having a known brand can always help out people.

I would definitelly not recommend a gaming laptop overall but it helps me with dev stuff as I can travel with it over a conventional PC xD

To combat the heating problems with laptops - I raise the hinged part of the laptop off the desk.

Desktop I'd definitely recommend a custom build, you can be far more focused on the performance you personally want/use most, and save cash ignoring aspects you don't need. Only issue, you won't get a black Friday deal on a custom usually... But it may still be cheaper.
