Dear clan leaders, clan seekers and overall Syrnians,

In an effort to minimize spam, flamming and give everyone a fair opportunity regarding clan recruitment and clan seeking threads, the mod team presents the following proposal based on a player's idea:

  • Every thread that falls in this category is automatically locked and stickied for 14 days, preventing it from falling down the forum or being bumped.

  • Any questions/suggestions are sent by message to the thread author or clanleader.

  • The first post can be edited at any time by the author to include more information, change goals, etc.

  • Every thread stays in the forum for the same time, giving equal opportunities to every clan and/or player looking for clan.

  • We are therefore asking for the general public opinions, as the decision of this being implemented or not will be yours.

    Thank you for your time,
    (on behalf of)
    Forum department team.

I am no longer on the mod staff, please if you have any questions about this, contact the forum department via tickets. Thank you.

I'm on the fence. Wouldn't this create a large amount of stickied threads which push down other interesting threads in the clan section?

Also, this may be fair for everyone, but on the other hand, many clan threads get interesting input (NOT spam good luck stuff, but actually useful input) by player replies. I would hate if this was removed.

Maybe leave the choice to the creator of the post? (choice meaning to lock or not to lock here)

    [edit to add another idea]
How about dividing the clan section into 3 subforums to make things more clear.

    1. Looking for a clan
    2. Clan advertisement
    3. Other (clan wars, affairs, etc etc)

i agree partly with wyks in the the fact that wouldnt it cause important post to be pushed down, yet i also think it could have positive benefits
Can you lay your life down, so a stranger can live?
Can you take what you need, but take less than you give?
Could you close every day, without the glory and fame?
Could you hold your head high, when no one knows your name?

Seems that some of them want to bump Threads lol- I like the idea of a 'Poster for Clan' information.

As for the 'Good luck' stuff, that's just spam, no matter how you want to label it

    Thumbs up from me

Like Wyks idea, not sure how it would fit into what is there? Bit like 'Situations Vacant, Situations Wanted' Section in a Newspaper?

Edited to include another post, now deleted

A clan's reputation is built over time and respect, not with a bunch of spam posts aimed at bumping their threads.

I vote yes, hope this goes forward, either with the stickying part or not, just keep them locked.

I think this should go through. I agree that wishing good luck to clan recruitment posts is pointless and should be classed as spam. Also, why cant people read? The times ive seen a clan thread that instructs people to MESSAGE there application and some twit comes along and replies I want to join again SPAM. And not to mention the other people who reply Message Sent to a thread, again another pointless reply.

This way the forums are kept clean and tidy, every thread lasts 14 days no matter what thus keeping it fair.

I think that there are pro's & con's to this idea, and that this idea thread should create some positive discussions.

I dont think that this solution is perfect, and think that along with Wyks suggestions this solution could work very well.

Resturcture the clan section of the forum into the suggested sections:

    1. Clan Advertisement's - For clans recruitment messages (that must meet the minimum requirements/ suggested format as seen here: Forum -> Clans -> Guide to writing a good recruitment post). Only recruitment posts should be allowed. Once posted locked thus minimising spam etc

    2. Looking for a clan - For clanless people to post that there currently seeking a clan. What they seek in a clan etc. Again once posted locked thus minimising spam.

    3. Other (clan wars, affairs, etc)

Just my expansion on the thoughts of other people, for what its worth.

I am just wondering will every post be locked/stickied. Even players searching for a clan? I cant see this as needed. Players should be able to recommend a clan to others if there own clan is not seeking recruits. Why is it unfair ?

Now I do agree with those who ask players to post on there thread, like i have seen in world chat. That is wrong, but I post, am well known. I should be punished because players post on my thread? Only real bump is when someone from your own clan posts on your recruitment thread. I also wonder why it HAS to be stickied, and how will the order be, first to post will be stickied and moved down to bottom?

This is just another way of mods taking even more control from players. I do not want this or think it is needed.

is there a real problem with the way it is now?

if clan threads are being flamed/bumped/spammed, then isnt that the fault of those posting? and shouldnt those players be punished, not the threads locked?

while im not in a clan, i still read clan threads, and the thought of seeing lots of clan threads stickied doesnt seem like a great idea. i can understand if the reason behind this was to reduce the amount of work the forum mod team has to do, but other than that, are these changes really needed if players stick to the forum rules, and mods punish those who break them?

Orange, in response to your "work load" for the forum squad, I'd like to put in a suggestion.

If it is too much work for tickets and what not in regards to clans and it gets transferred to other departments is it possible to have just ONE mod and not 3-4 working on one ticket at a time? Gets complicated.

That being said I think that we should not sticky clan threads, no. Why sticky them in the first place? If people are going to bump/flame/etc then shouldn't the rules apply?

If someone wants no one posting then they can lock the thread, repost in two weeks when it gets auto deleted. Simple.

    Yeah, what the heck.

The Mods are in power, fine to me.
The Mods make decisions, fine to me.

BUT, if the playerbase is asked for opinions and it is said that decisions will be made based on this, actually wait and listen what is said.

    I can't stand this.

When players agree, the authority says they listen to the players and claims they are "taking part" in the decision making.
When players disagree, the players are ignored and it is done anyway.

If you want to put this through mods, no problem. But then don't claim it's the players who are deciding please.

trose, my comment wasnt really aimed towards tickets, as id imagine any thread which is spammed/flamed/bumped in the most obvious way shouldnt need a player to report it for those players to be punished

I like the suggestion of locking and stickying the clan recruitment threads.

I think it would reduce the clutter of bumped threads and flames or even the I sent you a message comment which is total spam. It is easy to ignore a stickyed item.

I like Wyks suggestion of splitting the clan thread and think 2 catagories would work.

I've always found advertisements have always been a great way to find out any negative points about a clan. They give people (ex-members usually) a chance to post their thoughs on the clans, I'm not talking about "good luck" or "you rock my purple socks" post I'm talking about the "Don't join this clan they rob everyone and their mothers" posts. It'd be a shame for this way of naming and shaming clans to be removed from the game.

But Wyks the mods would be silly not to take advantage of players who don't have enough sense to know they're being manipulated into believing they're input actually makes a difference.

I mean, if you can get the sheeple to buy it then why not sell it? Of course anyone with two brain cells to rub together knows what a farce that claim is but they aren't falling for it anyway. The ones who can't figure it out are most likely not going to understand what we're talking about anyway so there's probably minimal loss there too when you get right down to it.

Having all recruitment post automatically stickied is a nice option.

While its nice friends wish you well it is considered spam as others have stated.

I like the idea of giving all clan posts a fair chance.
