| Make Syrnia Great Again!
The shouts were deafening. "Santa Claus! Krampus! Santa Claus! Krampus!" roared the two opposing choruses. Not to be left out of a good debate, it was time for Syrnia to investigate. There at the gates between Elven Plains and Ogre Caves, the source of strife was found: there’s about to be a massive vote on who should be our future Father Christmas. "Krampus! Santa Claus! Krampus! Santa Claus!" rocks the endless echo of ten thousand chants.
Till recently, support for Santa had been overwhelming, but a scandal in which he’d used Borneo’s mailing address to respond to Christmas letters has seriously damaged his credibility. And Krampus is fuelling the anti-sylvan feelings of Ogres by promising to build a wall at Elven Gate.
The boundary chamber between Ogre and Elven lands is a sea of life. Banners depicting the Elven choice, Santa Claus, and the Ogre choice of Krampus litter the cavern walls. Signposts pop up throughout the crowd; 'Make Syrnia Great Again,' 'Ogre Lives Matter', 'I'm With Her', and even a few 'Stronger Together'. The great debate is on!
My fellow Syrnians, I propose that we help settle this feud before war ensues. Choose your side: Santa or Krampus!
The Contest
Round 1: Quiz Questions
From 10th-14th December, a series of quiz questions will be posted daily on this thread. Each individual entrant must send their answers to these questions in a ticket to the Forum department. Please don’t send multiple tickets for each daily batch of questions: we only need one ticket per player containing all your answers. So obviously, you should not send your ticket before the last batch of questions is posted on 14th December.
You have until 00:01 Syrnia Time on Saturday 17th December to send your ticket. Each correct answer will be worth 1 point (except for the final question, which will be worth up to 6 points).
IMPORTANT: Remember to write in the TITLE of your ticket whether you're casting your vote for Santa Claus or for Krampus (e.g. You could simply make your ticket title 'Krampus' or 'Santa'). This is vital if you want to be included in the second round of the contest and have a chance of winning a prize.
Round 2 will begin at 18:00 Syrnia Time on Saturday 17th December, so keep your eyes peeled for Forum updates. In Round 2, your choice of candidate will very much come into play!
Results and Prizes
The election results will be posted in Forum on Christmas Eve, along with all player scores for the contest.
If the highest scoring player is a Santa supporter then Santa will be deemed to have won the election. If the highest scoring player is a Krampus supporter then Krampus will be deemed to have prevailed (please do not demand a recount or start rioting at Sanfew).
All players on the winning team will receive 1 Locked Christmas Present.
The top 20 contest scorers will each be awarded prizes, regardless of which candidate they supported. And the top three prizes will be particularly special!
Bear in mind that this is a busy season, so it may take some time for your prize(s) to appear in your inventory. Therefore please do not shout, cry, pout, ask to whisper a mod or threaten industrial action if your prize does not materialise immediately. Failure to honour this courtesy may result in your prize being substituted for a lump of Syrnia’s favourite fossil fuel.

| Round 2: Design a Costume
To the 14 finalists: Congratulations on making it this far! For the second part of the contest, you must work as part of your team (Team Santa or Team Krampus). Your team leader will be the player who scored highest on the quiz questions round (see the post above).
If you voted to support Santa, your team must design a Santa costume that would be particularly appropriate for a Syrnian Santa to wear. If you voted to support Krampus, your team must design a Krampus costume that would be particularly appropriate for a Syrnian Krampus to wear.
Your team might work in a number of different ways. For example, your leader could split your team into two groups, each of which could make their own decisions about what the Christmas costume should look like. Then an artist from each group could design such a Santa/ Krampus costume (using software like Paint.NET or by scanning and uploading a handcrafted image). Then your team leader could decide which of the group submissions would be best to send as your official team submission. But you can work in any way you like – how you ‘canvass’ in this election is up to you!
Only your team leader can send the ticket containing your team’s ‘Design a Costume’ contest entry. The ticket should contain a link that leads to your team’s Santa/ Krampus costume. You can upload your entries to sites such as Imgur.com.
Only 1 ticket per team is allowed: therefore your team leader’s first entry is also your team’s final entry.
Team leaders: you have until 00:01 Syrnia Time on Friday 23rd December to submit your team entry.
A bonus of 1-30 points will be added to the quiz question score of each player on your team, depending on how much we like your team’s design.
The player who now has the highest overall score will be declared the contest winner.
Remember: This is a challenge of initiative, leadership, teamwork, creativity and improvisation.
And Good News: seeing as we only have 14 finalists, each of you has already guaranteed yourself a place within the ‘top 20 scorers’. This means that even the lowest score will receive a pretty decent prize, regardless of which team wins the election!
