So, had issues with changing my avatar. Wanted to use an animated gif image. Previously, I had a guy juggling a throwing knife, file size of 195 kB, and it worked wonderfully and as expected.
Past few days I've attempted to upload some animated gifs, and I always got told "413 - Request Entity Too Large." What makes matters more infuriating, is that I can't even upload the previous avatar I was using, the one that's 195 kB juggler. I right-clicked my syrnia avatar, saved as, and then tried uploading and was informed it was too large.
Talked with a mod, they're free to divulge their name if they will, and we decided to reset my avatar, to see if that fixed my problem. It did not. Same error with file size when uploading gifs after my avatar was reset. So I assume it's not linked purely to my account.
Now, here's what I know. JPG files, not animated at all, I uploaded very small sized ones with no issue. Did not bother with anything over 10 kB, you'll get why after reading everything.
GIF files, I only tested the animated ones, and one static one that was under 10 kB. Static one had no issue. Animated ones... I found a couple issues. First problem, all gifs must be under 30 kB to animate correctly. Yeah, horribly low for animated images, so I recommend not bothering to aim for that marker. Any animated gif under 50 kB can be uploaded though. Here's the kicker, if it's between 30-50 kB though, it will only display one static frame of the gif. The gif will lose its animation if you upload it, and it is between 30-50 kB in file size. It seems if you go over 50 kB, the server just flat out refuses to accept the gif.
The following is purely tech info, I recommend most of you not bother reading after this line. This is a real mess in the editor. XD
NOTE: Semi-works note in the info, just means the first frame loads, the following frames are broke. This was all done with a 2 frame gif, since it was purely testing purposes.

I never bothered to double check the avatar size of syrnia's avatars. Generally, i just find images, make gifs, or w/e at a decent quality for myself, then just use them as avatars. I only readjust the size if the image exceeds the site's limits in some way.
